This week we learned about Kindergarten and what to expect as well as rainbows! These 15 amazing children really have grown leaps and bounds over the last year and I am beyond proud of them all! I made 15 fleece tied pillows this last weekend for the kids in our classroom! When they are reading at the carpet it did not look at all comfortable! So these pillows were there to help. We had a discussion about how to properly use the pillows, etc. and how they should be treated. The kids really responded to this and listened to all the rules! S We learned about rainbows this week and made some rainbow poems based on our favorite color in the rainbow! The kids had to rip paper and create the rainbow! :)
This week we were doing fun things that brought us joy in the thought of summer!! We made beach scenes with 3D sand and beach balls out of paper plates! We have had the busiest week yet and only in four days. We also made camp fires with our hand prints! In light of this I made s'more bites for the kiddos that looked like s'mores on a stick when camping. The kids wanted the recipe which is right below (very simple): 1-2 packages of jumbo marshmallows Chocolate syrup Graham cracker crumbs Toothpicks - Take the syrup and put in a bowl. Then take the graham crackers and put on a plate. Take the marshmallows one by one and dip the bottom of the marshmallow in the syrup till coated. Once coated dip in the graham cracker crumbs. Put on a plate and put a toothpick in the middle of it. **The kids loved this! It is so easy and would be a fun dessert for the kids to help make! :) This week we celebrated Andrew's 5th birthday and enjoyed some fun spiderman cupcakes! The kids have been working extremely hard to get their work done and do it well. As well they have been working on working as a team. This week we finally got all of our popcorn pieces in our bucket!! SDo Friday we had a movie day! One last thing we learned is when we are coloring or doing a project, we need to try to at least use five different colors! So as shown below with Elena I recommended counting out the markers to make sure. Everyone have a great weekend! :) This morning we are having a comfy fun filled day so far! We earned all of our popcorns as a class and our reward was a comfy movie day with popcorn and our stuffed animals! I also brought a special guest for our viewing of Frozen, Olaf himself! :) All there is in our room this morning is a lot of singing! :)
Got a chance to go drop off our flag to the army men at the recruiting station in Green Bay! They were so excited to receive such an awesome flag!! They said thank you to the kids and put it up in their offices!! AWESOME!! :)
We changed our door this week! We read the book "Oh the Places You'll Go" and then we colored our balloons. After this I took pictures of the kids acting like they were floating through the air holding onto balloons. We put this together finally this afternoon and the kids love it! Turned out great! :) They definitely have bright futures ahead of them! :)
Hello 4K families! Can't believe it has already come to the end of our time in 4K! Library is done for the year! :( I am just letting you know that the kids library books that they brought home yesterday with the books in them, they are able to keep! (From Mrs. Ropson)
Any questions, let me know! :) Have a great rest of your week. :) Today we tried green beans - yes some of the kids had before tried green beans but today we tried some fresh ones with ranch dipping sauce. Most of the kids liked the beans just on their own, but some did like the ranch with them. Great snack for them! The whole class except for a few really loved the beans! They each got 3 and wanted more, which is great to see! (these beans are not the ones that we were growing)
In 4K we are having some friends issues, and some disagreements when it comes to friends. I knew this was the perfect time to bring in the crinkled heart project! (The project is explained below in the document) Overall the students learned what a heart might look like when it is hurt by mean words or actions. I had done this with my preschool class that I taught two years ago and it really helped them having that visual. I had the students after our activity what our promise as a class is, "We promise to not "crinkle" friends' hearts. We promise to treat others with kindness, respect and love." I wrote this out and had all of them sign this! Our promise that is signed, our heart with the bandaids and the explanation of the project are outside our classroom! |
